What changes the price
No two families need the same care. The more support someone needs, the more skilled and sometimes the more numerous the carers, and that is what moves the price.
Companionship and daily living
Company, meals, housework and prompting with medication. Prices start here, from £1,200 a week.
Personal care and mobility
Washing, dressing, moving safely around the home. Priced to the level of help needed.
Dementia and complex conditions
Carers with specialist training. Confirmed after the free home visit.
Night-time support
If someone is often up at night, the care plan may need a different rota or a second carer.
Two people, one home, one carer
Two care home fees
Both of you at home, with one live-in carer
For one person, live-in care costs are comparable to good quality UK residential care homes. For couples, a live-in carer supports both of you at home, often saving thousands of pounds every year.
Who pays for live-in care?
Many families use more than one route. What you can claim depends on the person’s needs and circumstances, and the rules differ across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
We cannot give financial or benefits advice, but we will point you in the right direction when you call.
Paying yourself
Self-funding
The most choice over who cares for you and when. We give you a clear weekly price up front.
Needs assessment
Local authority
Your council can assess care needs and, depending on income and savings, contribute towards the cost. Ask for a care needs assessment.
Primary health need
NHS Continuing Healthcare
Fully funded care for people who meet the eligibility criteria. It is not means tested.
Over State Pension age
Attendance Allowance
A benefit for help with personal care. It is not means tested and can be spent on care at home.
Arrange it yourself
Direct payments
After an assessment, your council can pay you the money to arrange your own care instead of arranging it for you.
Live-in care cost questions
How much does live-in care cost per week?
Live-in care with Glowing Care starts from £1,200 per week for one person who needs companionship and help with daily living. The final price depends on the level of support needed and is confirmed after a free home visit, before anything is agreed.
Is live-in care cheaper than a care home?
For one person, live-in care costs are comparable to good quality UK residential care homes. For couples who would otherwise pay two separate care home fees, live-in care often saves thousands of pounds a year and keeps both partners together.
Who pays for live-in care?
Many families pay privately. Others get help from their local authority after a care needs assessment, from NHS Continuing Healthcare if the person has a primary health need, or from benefits such as Attendance Allowance. What you can claim depends on the person's needs and circumstances, and the rules differ across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Are there any hidden agency fees?
No. There are no hidden agency fees. We confirm your price in writing after the free home visit, so you know the cost before you decide.

“Your carers have worked hard to develop an understanding of my Mum including her likes and dislikes. Their companionship has helped her recover enormously and they often go the extra mile to make her comfortable.”

“Glowing Care looked after my very elderly mum after frequent falls and hospital stays proved that she needed help with every day tasks and personal care. All the carers were kind, efficient, reliable, honest and competent. They often went above and beyond their brief and regularly stayed past their allotted time. Although all the carers were very good, there were a couple, with whom mum had a very strong connection/rapport. If visits needed to be amended owing to appointments or family matters. GC were very flexible and this was very helpful. Obviously, they made sure that mum was bathed, fed and hydrated but, just as importantly, they chatted to her and brought a kind and cheerful presence into her home when I couldn't be there, giving me great peace of mind. They also kept detailed notes so that I could see what had been done in my absence. I would recommend them without hesitation.”
